For your evening or middle of day cravings, you’ll need nutritious yet delicious snacks. Instead of eating the first thing that comes to mind, we suggest these homemade dried fruit and chocolate bars. They can be cooked quickly, or you could prepare them in advance and keep them in the fridge or freezer. And with our unique mix of dried sliced organic fruit, it’s even tastier!

Chocolate is optional, but we think it adds this special little something.

Steps

  1. Cover a square 20 cm mould with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. In a pan, mix the butter, the brown sugar and the honey. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, mixing constantly so that it doesn’t burn.

  3. Reduce the heat and let simmer for about 2 minutes, or until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and incorporate the vanilla and the salt.

  4. Add the oat, the crispy rice cereals, the sliced almonds, the flaxseed, the dried fruit mix and combine all ingredients. Let rest for 5 minutes, and add chocolate chips.

  5. Transfer the mix in a mould and press firmly with a spatula. Place the mould in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.

  6. Carefully remove the bars from the mould by pulling on the parchment paper and cut in rectangles.

Recommendations

Bars can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator. We suggest that you put parchment paper so that the bars don’t stick together.

Conservation in the freezer: Bars can be kept in the freezer for 3 months in an airtight container, separated with parchment paper. Before serving, transfer in the refrigerator.
